Today
I am clear about my passion: writing story. I am a confident, creative
and supportive leader who is equally passionate about working with
people to help them bring out their own story and spiritual legacy.
I use my skills and gifts to create Voice Flame writing circles of
healing and empowerment. For years, I have tracked my story, allowing
myself to be tenderly prodded to sift through my memories; to tell
and write the valued stories of my life. I have drawn wisdom from
my failures, successes, triumphs and teachings, and transformed them
into the spiritual legacy I strive to live by and choose to leave.
I remain faithful to the journey and in doing so I have learned to
trust and believe in my own story and the values I want to live forward.
Yesterday I was a shy and fearful
woman, in-hiding from my gifts and creativity. I was longing to know
who I was, where I came from and where I was going. The excitement
of discovery was matched only by my resistance and fear of uncovering
the light within. I had a deep and ancient longing for transformation
and felt called to heal the legacy of disconnection, secrets and silence
left by my ancestors. I dreamed of circles where this could happen.
I trusted the creative process and dove deeply into the unknown.
Tomorrow I will continue the
journey on this path I have chosen, in this, the second half of my
life. My story continues to unfold, and I continue to write it. I
will continue to be a vessel for this work that I am called to do.
I will continue to create the life I want to live and be remembered
for. Tomorrow I hope to be your mentor on a journey to write your
story, find your voice and leave your spiritual legacy. My intention
is to live life fully with joy and passion.
My Master’s degree was earned from Holy
Names College in Oakland, CA and I am an Adjunct Faculty member at
John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. I am trained in the
Amherst Writers and Artists methodology and I am a nationally certified
facilitator with Women’s Legacies. I have worked as a speech
pathologist, social worker, administrator, manager, homemaker, mother
and teacher. I have facilitated numerous programs for personal and
spiritual growth over the years including divorce groups, women’s
groups, refugee resettlement, homeless women in transition, adoption
groups, international women’s groups and more. My distinctive
services are offered in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout
the country, including a yearly retreat on the island of Hawaii.
Writing challenges and stretches me. It is a
holistic approach to healing that engages my body, mind and spirit.
As an art form writing is a medium that assists me to reach my deepest,
hidden longings, fears and joys. I cannot hide when I write. It opens
my heart and leads me to my truth. My writing reflects my Midwestern
background where I learned the value of simplicity and survival, hospitality
and home. It is the landscape that shaped me and that I continue to
look to for inspiration and insight.
